What is the Bible?

At first glance, we see the Bible as a record of the history of man (mankind) spanning a period of somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 years, starting with Adam in the Garden of Eden.

Genesis Chapter 1, (the Story of Creation) has been hailed by many, as the most controversial part of the entire Bible and has been used over and over to discredit this Book.

The Story of Creation will be examined in great depth as we proceed on our journey of enlightenment, so let us put our personal views one side and discover what this Book is actually all about.

WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL WITH ISRAEL?

Why is the world so enthralled and captivated by this one tiny little country that can literally fit into Lake Michigan with room to spare?

Why is the Islamic nations doing everything in their power to destroy this Nation, not only in Israel but all over the world.

These are questions that are being raised by many of those people who have not read or understood the Bible. I have become so enthralled in the Bible and in particular, Bible prophecy, that I have taken it upon myself to share this knowledge with all those that I care about.

This document is designed to help you to understand and make sense of Bible prophecy so that it impacts your lives and gives you the strength and confidence to live in the perilous times that we are having to live under at this time and more important, for those years ahead.

Israel today is a very, very fascinating topic, but we all know that normally, most people don’t get up in the morning and say, “Hey, I wonder what’s going on in Israel today?”

That all changed on the morning of 7TH October 2023 and things will never be the same again.

We now know that there is, and has been a lot going on in Israel and there is a lot of focus on Israel from all over the world and especially in the Middle East. The current war against this nation is a ‘Wake-up Call” to all those who were and maybe still are ignorant of the true facts.

This is a call to take heed of this situation because it is not just about Israel.

You may remember in the past, seeing just so much Middle East drama ramping up and wondered why so much attention was focused on that area. It has now just ramped up even more to where literally the entire world’s focus is on Israel and the Middle East and all the drama that goes on there.

What many don’t realize without studying scripture, is that it is totally Biblical. Going back to the ‘Abrahamic Promise’, when God literally gave an unconditional promise to Abraham that is found in Genesis chapter 12, verse two and three. we read,

“I will make you into a great nation and I will Bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a Blessing. I will Bless those who Bless you and whoever curses you, I will curse. All peoples on earth will be Blessed through you.”

There are multiple prophesy details in that verse that we should all understand, even leading to Jesus. He came and blessed the whole world. But this is an unconditional promise that God made to Abraham and his descendants. Satan hates what God loves, and here God set the standard and the framework for everything that was moving forward from this point.

People ask, so why is Israel such a focal point? Why do they seem to be at the hub of all the conflict and all the controversy?

Now, just think again about Satan and his hatred for the Jewish people. Antisemitism is on the rise today. It is really growing rapidly in Europe, and it is even being seen in many places in America with shootings and stabbings in Jewish synagogues and gatherings. But this ancient hatred really goes back to the verses quoted above, where God himself made a covenant with His people.

In Deuteronomy 7, God says “I did not choose you out of all the nations of the world because you are the biggest nation, but because I loved you, and will keep the oath that I made”.

So, he makes this covenant with the Jewish people, but why does Satan so hate the Jewish people. Simple answer, because through the Jewish people came the Scriptures and through the Jewish people came the Messiah and the Jewish people have promises from God that are still to be fulfilled. And once those have been fulfilled, Satan’s days are figuratively and literally numbered. The Jewish people one day, are going to call upon their Messiah to return.

He is going to return. When Jesus returns, that means Satan is kicked out of the house, that means he doesn’t get to rule the earth anymore. Oh, maybe you were not aware that he has been ruling those who are Ungodly since the beginning of days. He knows this and he is fighting for his very existence. Those who don’t know the Bible will be unaware of this.

Then there is the Old Testament, which just sounds so antiquated, out of date. It’s kind of like an old dictionary from 1900. Who uses those things nowadays?

Shouldn’t we just love God and love our neighbours and not worry about the Old Testament?

Just love Jesus, you don’t need theology, right? Wrong.

.

If you don’t know something, you cannot appreciate it. I absolutely love the Old Testament. One cannot move forward without the full knowledge of everything that is contained in all these Books. We learn so much about the character of God and the way that He deals with his people, and his relationship with his people. And his care and concern and continually trying to turn us from our sinful ways. We see that throughout the Old Testament. You look through the Kings and the Chronicles and you see it in the Psalms, and that’s what the Old Testament is about. It is the history of God’s covenant relationship with the Jewish people. It identifies His rules and desires.

In the Book of Daniel, which is one of my favourite Books, we read about the first time that the Israelites were conquered and then driven out of their land after the destruction of the Temple by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar in the 6TH century BC, and then held in captivity for about 70 years. The people had been warned about this happening if they did not mend their ways. After Nebuchadnezzar’s demise the new king allowed the Jews to return and rebuild their temple. All of this was recorded from God’s Word and written down in the Books of the Old Testament, by various Profits centuries before it took place.

During the life of Jesus, many of the scriptures were explained and just before His crucifixion, the disciples are told about the second destruction of the Temple, in very graphic detail and when it would take place. Scriptures foretold of how the Jewish nation would then be scattered to the four corners of the world, but would eventually be brought back to their land again.

That happened when we get to 70 AD, and the Romans destroyed the Temple, and  the Jews were dispersed again. So, this history of the Jewish people appears in scriptures long before the events take place, it’s dramatic, it’s romantic, it’s violent. There are so many things involved in their journey.

But we get back to the point where God’s covenant with them still has not changed. Why, because these were “unconditional promises”.

In Genesis 15 God, re-institutes this covenant with Abraham. God is the only one who takes part in the covenant.  God does this through an animal sacrifice and so he is the one that signs the contract. Then you just trace it further through history in terms of those who Bless Israel will be Blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed. You will discover how this all unfolded.

Just look at the history of Egypt, Syria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome. They are all those nations that conquered Israel, they took their land, they took their people captive, they dispersed them in the earth. Where is Babylon today? Are any of these nations a powerhouse in the modern era? NO.

God says, “how you treat my people of Israel will determine how I treat you as Gentile nations.”

One of the things that we need to keep in mind is that those promises that God made to the Jewish people were specifically to them as a nation.

Historically, what we find in the New Testament is that Jesus first came to his own and his own didn’t receive him. Possibly, one of the saddest verses in the whole Bible (John 1), is that Christ came to the Jews, and he presented himself as the Messiah. They rejected their Messiah at that time because they were looking for a conquering King, and he came as a lowly and suffering servant to die for ‘THEIR’ sins.

So, God knowing that this would happen, turned his attention to the Gentiles.

Paul became the Apostle to the Gentiles. The irony of this action is very apparent to Christians. Paul, when he was still called Saul, (a Jewish Pharisee bent on persecuting all Christian Believers), God (Jesus) struck him down on the road to Damascus, taking away his sight for 3 days, and then anointed him to be the Apostle for Gentile Believers. He went on to become the most powerful of all the apostles. Much of the writings in the New Testament are the testaments of his work on earth and prophecies for the future.

-3-

A note for those who may not understand – the Bible has only two classifications of race; a Jew on the one hand, and the rest of humanity is classified as Gentiles, regardless of nationality. The Islamic doctrine came into being many centuries later, centred around  the nations living in and around the cities of Mecca and Medina in the 6TH and 7TH centuries A.D.. There will be a document in due course that covers the rising up of the Islamic nation.

We are currently still in the Church Age. This age will continue only, (quote),

“Until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.” This means that God has set a time for an event to take place at a point when this prophecy is fulfilled

God is speaking about Israel as a nation, talking about a national relationship, not an individual relationship with those Jews who become Christians. He says I’m going to put you (the nation of Israel) on the back burner, while I deal with the Gentile nations and bring in the bride of Christ (the Church), representing the body of Christian Believers that evolved after the death and resurrection of Christ.

So, there’s going to come a moment when this time of the Gentile Believers, the Church age, is going to come to a dramatic end and God is going to say, “now it’s time to turn my attention back to the Jewish people.” That is when the 7 year tribulation period will begin, outlined in graphic detail in the last Book of the Bible. This is the period that God will vent His rath on the world. It will be very Israeli-centric during this tribulation period. In fact, the very next verse says, “And thus all Israel will be saved.” There are a number of stages that have been documented in the Book of Revelations, leading up to the final return of Christ to Jerusalem. It will be a period of extreme hardship for all those people who remain on earth. This period of time will be discussed in full detail in another article that is being prepared.

Now, lets move forward to our current times and examine what is actually taking place in the world today.

What we see happening across all areas of the globe a manifestation of events that the Bible describes as “Birth Pains”, as arises during a women’s pregnancy, starting off mildly but growing in intensity until the end time before birth takes place. We are currently well into that period.

We have entered a period of rapid decline in morality all over the world. A rising up of satanic influences and demonic surges of activity in every part of the globe.

There has been and will be more dramatic changes in climatic conditions, again intensifying.

There will be wars and rumours of wars between nations. We are right in the middle of that now.

There will be a massive increase in ungodliness, sexual perversion, division of family unity, attacks on one’s own humanity, disorientation of sexuality and targeted gender confusion, especially in the younger age bracket.

Not to forget about the dramatic rise in crime, abuse of children and rampant levels of misinformation (or non-information). The far-leftist media are the main culprits,

This is all clearly scripted in the Books of the Bible. If you don’t know the Bible, you will not be aware of these things and will not be able to guard against this affecting your own life.

And more importantly, the future of your family.

Again we ask, Why!

What is the dominant feature that an army on the march wants to do to his enemy:-

Divide and Conquer. That is an age-old strategy in warfare.

We are at war with a demonic force under the control and influence of Satan himself.

This is exactly what he is doing in today’s world.

His ‘people’ (the Ungodly) on this earth, using every excuse under the sun, lie, cheat, and coerce people into believing the doctrines that is being advanced to all the ‘world’.

In the USA, which I have been studying for some time now, demonic activities are reaching horrendous proportions. This country has become a joke. It is so divided with extremists on the ‘Left’ and the ‘Right, there is no hope of unity ever returning at this moment.

If you want to see how a once-proud, vibrant economically sound country can so quickly go down the tubes, just look at that country today and compare to past times.

Another detailed article will be released shortly.

WHAT IS THE BIBLE?

At first glance, we see the Bible as a record of the history of man (mankind) spanning a period of somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 years, starting with Adam in the Garden of Eden.

We are even given the genealogy of Jesus Christ, from the first days of Adam, through the Old Testament, until His birth. So, we can definitively talk about this Bible as being a historical record of man over all those past centuries.

Genesis Chapter 1, (the Story of Creation) has been hailed by many, as the most controversial part of the entire Bible and has been used over and over to discredit this Book. It has even caused many to walk away from every Truth that the Bible portrays, due to the difficulty of trying to make any logical sense (in their own eyes) of the words of this chapter. And because of this one factor, much of the Bible is discredited.

The Story of Creation will be examined in great depth as we proceed on our journey of enlightenment, so let us put our personal views one side and discover what this Book is actually all about.

in my opinion, the Old Testament is ‘God’s Love Affair with His Creation’. It is a love story, depicting the unending love and patience that God has for man and His continual attempts to keep man on the righteous path of salvation. This Book records His continuous attempts throughout all the ages to achieve this goal.

God’s biggest mistake, in my view, was to give man choices, way back in chapter 3 of Genesis, when God gave man the choice of an everlasting and abundant life, against one that led to death in the flesh and living a life exposed to sin, under the influence of Satan and that demonic world. (see article “Who is Satan?)

And we also see that this Book is full of ‘rules and regulations’ under which the people living throughout these early times, must (or should not) live and behave.

We are given evidence that many of these people did not obey these rules and were eventually destroyed  through various catastrophes that came upon them. In the days of Noah, one of God’s earlier prophets, a great flood was brought upon the whole world and everything on earth was destroyed. Other catastrophic events took place in latter times, again destroying great multitudes of the population.

The Bible very clearly emphasises that these catastrophes fell upon man through their own behaviour and living in total disobedience to God’s will.

So, we now see that the Bible has a very strict code of ethics and morality.

We now ask ourselves the two big questions, ‘Who is the author of this Bible?’ and ‘Who are the writers of the Bible?’ Are they the same people?

The Bible was written over a period of about 1500 years, in three languages and on three continents.

The writing of the first five Books of the Old Testament have been credited to Moses, dictated by God. These five Books form the foundation of the Jewish Torah. There is, however, some debate about the authorship of Genesis, and it appears that there is no absolute consensus of opinion to this premise.

There are a total of 39 Books in the Old Testament and the other 34, are all credited to various Prophets, who were ‘commissioned’ by God to teach His Word to the people, and seek their repentance from sinful ways. Many of these Books are named after these Prophets.

In my mind, this is one of the two infallible reasons why we should believe that the Bible is correctly referred to as “The Word of God”. The consistency of God’s instructions and promises throughout these Books and the continual revelations of the redemption from God, motivates this thought.

Many of the words of the Prophets, particularly the teachings in Genesis in those earlier days, if passed on by word of mouth from one generation to another, could have created an element of distortion. This could be the reason for a certain level of disbelief about the Truth of these writings.

The second reason will be dealt with in an article on “Bible Prophecy”.
